Kawasaki Heavy Industries/CSR Qingdao Sifang Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co. C151A - Introduction
The Kawasaki Heavy Industries C151A (KSF) is the fourth generation of rolling stock to be used on the North South and East West MRT Lines. Kawasaki oversees the project and design while CSR Sifang would handles the manufacture and testing of the rolling stock.

This is the fourth generation rolling stock and also the newest on the East West & North South Line. It was the first successful joint venture between these two companies in the international market. 22 trains of 6 cars each were ordered.

Design
Exterior

The exterior colour of the train is black, with a red strip running down the middle, and grey at the bottom. The train was designed similarly to the C751B, which gives it a more streamline look. The train number is shown with a Yellow LED display.
Interior

The colours of the seats are uses a sort of pink, blue and green.

The window glass is not tinted giving a clear view of the outside and it comes with more grab poles, wider seats; more standing space.

Handgrips

Handgrips are only located at the side and centre of the train
"Doors Closing" Indicator

Red LED Door Closing warning indicators that blink when doors are closing are positioned at the top of the door.
Brighter Gangway

Additional lights were installed at the gangway area of the train, which brightens up the gangway.
Wheelchair Space

3rd and 4th car nearest to the lift. Located at the side of each doors.
Builder Plate

The plate lists the companies involved in the manufacture of the train, and also the year it was built.
Side Panels

The side panels are more sleek with designs on it.
Singapore Skyline

501/502 was delivered with in-train panels installed that features Singapore Skyline. They has since been removed.
Built-in STARiS

Unlike other rolling stock, the STARiS route map was built into the panel of the train, and does not protrude out.

A typical peak period scenario in an MRT station includes heavy boarding and alighting activities, crowded trains despite decent frequencies, especially in interchange stations. Travel time is also usually longer than the what signboards in platforms stipulate given the huge crowd and other factors like train bunching.
