Plasma Displays by Conrac are installed in stations along the North South Line & East West Line. The displays are installed before the paid area at the concourse and a single location per platform. The displays are capable of showing the destination, the estimated arrival times of the next two trains per platform at the concourse level. The platform would be able to show the arrival times of the next two trains and the departure time at terminal stations. It is also capable of displaying messages informing passengers of a service delay. A new generation of the displays are currently being utilized at Jurong East station.

Plasma Displays by Advanced System Asia (ADV) are installed at the concourse levels of stations along the North East Line. These were the first generation of plasma displays installed in these stations.
Plasma Displays by Samsung are installed at the platforms in stations along the North East Line. Unlike the platforms along the North South Line & East West Line, 2 plasma displays are installed at each of 2 locations per platform as it had the necessary infrastructure during the construction. The displays are installed before the paid area at the concourse and a single location per platform. The displays are capable of showing the destination, the estimated arrival times of the next two trains per platform at the concourse level. The platform would be able to show the arrival times of the next two trains and the departure time at terminal stations. It is also capable of displaying messages informing passengers of a service delay.

They show the estimated arrival times of the next two trains per platform, safety messages and train service messages. It is installed in stations along the North South Line and East West Line by Wei Long Electronics.
The North East Line and Circle Line are installed by Advanced System Asia (ADV).

These LED displays are installed on both the platform and the concourse, showing the train arrival timings and what service will the train ply. They are also capable of scrolling welcome messages, safety messages and occasionally, the time and date.

These are installed on both the platform and the concourse, informing passengers and which loop the train will ply and what is the next station. They are also capable of scrolling welcome messages, safety messages and occasionally, the time and date. However, it does not display the train arrival timings.

Launched in November 2010, iView is SMRT Media's next step towards the digital age in outdoor advertising. It provides vibrancy excitement, captures eyeballs and it is interactive. It is able to show television commercial, static advertisement, train arrival timings and customised content. It is currently undergoing installation on all SMRT train stations.

These flight information display panels are located at Changi Airport station platform to provide immediate flight information to passengers taking a flight at Changi Aiport when they step off the train.

The SMRT Active Route Map Information System (STARiS) is a rail travel information system developed in house by communications engineers from SMRT Corporation for its North South Line and East West Line trains in Singapore. For more detailed information on STARiS, please click here.

| Liquid Crystal Displays in Trains |

6 liquid crystal displays are installed at the overhead panels in each train car. They are also installed on all LRT train cars, with the Bukit Panjang LRT and the Changi Airport Skytrain showing advertisements, and the Sengkang/Punggol LRT showing safety videos. These show rail travel information of the next station & terminating station, silent commercials and movie trailers and safety videos. These are installed in the Alstom Metropolis Cars C751A & the Kawasaki Heavy Industries & Nippon Sharyo C751B only. As of today, the units on the C751A have stopped showing commercials while the C751B cars have been turned off due to lack of demand and the LCD displays on the LRT trains are also deactivated.

These are installed on the celling in all Alstom Metropolis Cars C751A and the Kawasaki Heavy Industries & Nippon Sharyo C751B only. These displays are capable of displaying the name of the next station, current station, door closing messages and occasionally the date and the time. For the C751B displays, they are also able to show interchange messages, welcome text, terminal station and also informing passengers of a service delay. However in 2007, SMRT deactivated all VPIS units on the C751Bs, leaving the C751A the only trains which have VPIS in operation. The units on the C751Bs had been removed due to installation of STARiS in 2010.

| TTIS |

These are installed on the celling in all Alstom Metropolis Cars C830 only. These displays are capable of displaying the name of the next station, current station, doors closing messages, terminal station, as well as inform passengers of real-time service delays and occasionally the time. During special events, the TTIS are also able to tell passengers about road closures in the vicinity, and the affected stations.

| Bukit Panjang LRT Trains |

These are installed on the panels over the doors on all Bukit Panjang LRT train cars. They are capable of showing transfer messages, doors closing, next station, which service the train is plying, and the train's destination station in red.

| Sengkang LRT Line and Punggol LRT Line |
|
These are installed on the celling in all Sengkang and Punggol LRT train cars. They are capable of scrolling welcome messages, showing next station, arrival at station, and doors closing warning in different colours. They are generally more reliable than the ones in the BPLRT.

| Changi Airport Skytrains |

These are installed in all Changi Airport Skytrain train cars.

A typical peak period scenario in an MRT station includes heavy boarding and alighting activities, crowded trains despite decent frequencies, especially in interchange stations. Travel time is also usually longer than the what signboards in platforms stipulate given the huge crowd and other factors like train bunching.
