In Singapore, 48.6% of public transport journeys are made using the MRT or LRT, and the percentage is set to increase further as new train lines and extensions are being opened, improving rail connectivity across the island.
Brand new MRT lines – the 5th stage of the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL), the Jurong Region Line (JRL), and the Cross Island Line (CRL) – will begin serving commuters in the coming 5 years.
Several MRT stations will open in the future – the Brickland and Sungei Kadut stations on the North-South Line (NSL), and Founders' Memorial, Mount Pleasant, and Marina South stations on the TEL.
Commuters can look forward to better rail connectivity around Singapore with the upcoming 6th stage of the Circle Line (CCL6), the Downtown Line 3 extension (DTL3e), and the Downtown Line 2 extension (DTL2e).
